Spice Up Your New Year's Eve Plans with My Haitian Revolution Sangria Recipe

Hey mes amis!!! Bienvenue to my mini-blog-series, "Making Spirits Bright," where we touch upon an array of unique ingredients, recipes & activities that are often associated with the holiday season. You should already know by now that New Year's Day is a BIG deal to Haitians & the diaspora. And if this is news to you, then check out my blog post featuring the reasons as to why this is here.


We're keeping it short & sweet in this blog post with one of my go-to cocktail faves...SANGRIAAAAA!!! But we're doing it "Haitian-style." "Haitian Revolution Sangria"

Ingredients

-2 Limes; Sliced or Wedged

-1 Large Grapefruit

-1 Haitian Mango, Sliced (Added Tajin is optional)

-Handful of Kenep (English: "Genip") -4 oz Grapefruit Juice

-4 oz Guava Juice

-12 oz Coconut Seltzer Water

-4 oz Haitian Barbancourt Rhum

-1 Bottle Holiday Spiced Red Wine

-2 oz Lime Juice

-Ice (optional)


Garnish

-Star Anise

-Cinnamon Sticks




Directions

  • Step 1 -  Cut up all your fruits; Slices or Wedges both work out perfectly

  • Step 2 - Add in the Mango Juice, Guava Juice, Coconut Seltzer Water, Barbancourt Rhum, Spiced Holiday Red Wine, Lemon Juice, & Garnishes.

  • Step 3 - Stir well.

  • Step 4 - Refrigerate overnight or for 2-4 Hours if in a hurry.

  • Step 5 - Stir again.

  • Step 6 - Add ice to your glass.

  • Step 7 - Serve & Enjoy!
